Three Services
What the workshop offers.
Cogwright provides three distinct services for mechanical watches — routine servicing, considered restoration, and a structured annual care membership.

The Workshop Method
Every watch that arrives at Cogwright is logged, photographed, and inspected before work begins. The condition of the dial, case, crown, and crystal is noted so the starting point is recorded clearly. For routine servicing this takes a few minutes; for restoration work it forms the basis of the scope discussion that follows.
Movement work follows a standard sequence: disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, inspection of parts under magnification, replacement of worn components (discussed with the owner before proceeding), lubrication with oils and greases appropriate to each part, reassembly, and regulation on the timing machine. Water resistance is tested where applicable.
Log & Inspect — The watch is referenced, photographed, and assessed on arrival.
Agree Scope — For restoration or unexpected findings, scope and cost are discussed before proceeding.
Service & Clean — Disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, inspection, part replacement, lubrication, reassembly.
Verify & Report — Timing is checked on the machine. A written condition summary is prepared.
Collect — The watch is returned with a written receipt and condition note. Questions are welcome at this stage.
Service 01
Mechanical Movement Servicing
A full service for mechanical and automatic movements. The movement is disassembled completely, parts are cleaned ultrasonically, inspected under magnification, and reassembled with lubricants appropriate to each component. The watch is then regulated and its rate verified on a timing machine. Gaskets are inspected and the case is lightly cleaned.
This service suits watches that have not been serviced in four or more years, or those showing any signs of running irregularly — gaining or losing more than expected, stopping unexpectedly, or a rotor that feels rough.
- Complete disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
- Fresh lubrication throughout the movement
- Gasket inspection, timing verification
- Written condition summary on completion
Service 02
Vintage Restoration
Restoration of older pieces with care for their original character. The scope is agreed in full before work begins — dial condition, hand treatment, case detailing, and any parts that need sourcing are all discussed and costed transparently. Nothing is altered without the owner's knowledge.
Period-appropriate parts are sourced from suppliers in Switzerland and Japan where possible. When an exact match is unavailable, the options are presented and the decision is yours. The aim is to return the watch as close to its original working state as the available materials allow.
- Dial preservation and hand re-finishing
- Case detailing respecting original finish
- Period-appropriate parts sourcing
- Full movement service included
Service 03
Annual Care Programme
A membership covering one timepiece for a full calendar year, with two scheduled visits included. Each visit is a bench check: accuracy is measured on the timing machine, water resistance verified, the movement cleaned lightly, and a condition note prepared. The membership is well suited to Bangkok's climate, where more frequent attention extends the interval between full services.
Members receive priority booking, which means the scheduling of both annual visits is arranged in advance without competing with walk-in enquiries. The programme runs on a twelve-month calendar from the date of enrolment.
- Two scheduled visits per year for one watch
- Accuracy measurement, water-resistance test each visit
- Light cleaning and condition note
- Priority booking throughout membership

Workshop Standards
Shared Across All Services
Secure Storage
All watches not on the bench are stored in a secured cabinet. The workshop is attended during business hours and a receipt is issued at every drop-off.
Timing Machine
Rate is checked in multiple positions on a dedicated timing instrument before any watch is returned. Results are included in the condition note.
Written Documentation
Every completed job comes with a plain-language summary of what was found, what was done, and any observations for the owner's information.
Pre-Work Agreement
Any work beyond the agreed scope is discussed and authorised before it is undertaken. No surprises on collection.
Correct Lubricants
Different parts of a movement require different oils and greases. The correct lubricant is used for each application rather than a general-purpose substitute.
No Third Parties
All work is carried out in the Khlong Toei workshop. Your watch is not passed to an outside contractor or sent elsewhere.
